Funeral arrangements made for late Sylvester councilman

SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - Funeral arrangements have been made for Larry Johnson, a Sylvester councilman who died Jan. 8 from COVID-19 complications.

According to Fields Funeral Home, the viewing for the late councilman will be held on Friday, Jan. 15, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Fields Funeral Home, which is located at 507 West Price Street in Sylvester.

The funeral service will be held at the Sylvester Pedestrian Mall at 102 South Main Street in Sylvester on Saturday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m.

Johnson will be buried at Shepard Memorial Gardens on West Street.

To honor Johnson, the City of Sylvester announced Monday that it would leave the Christmas tree up that is in front of the old Train Depot.

The City of Sylvester will leave the tree up at The Depot in honor of Councilman Larry Johnson.
