MORGAN, Ga. (WALB) - Two people are facing charges following an attempt to get contraband into the Calhoun State Prison, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Corrections (DOC) and confirmed by Chief Deputy David Moseley with the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the DOC, on Jan. 10, an unidentified suspect was seen near the facility. During a search, the DOC said Shacoria Willis and probationer Antonio Mitchell were found on the grounds of the prison.
The release says they were found with plastic bottles and packages wrapped in black tape consisting of tobacco and smartphones.
The two were arrested and taken to the Calhoun County Jail.
Moseley said both are charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and items prohibited by a warden.
This was the 45th contraband caught at the prison since Oct. 1, 2020, according to Moseley.
