Valdosta police captain retires after 42 years
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - The Valdosta Police Department (VPD) is recognizing one of its own, Captain Donald Baldwin.
Baldwin announced his retirement this week after 42 years of service with the VPD.
Baldwin started off as a patrolman in November of 1978.
Over the years, he worked as a patrol sergeant, a lieutenant and captain over the VPD’s Training Unit.
The department said Baldwin was also one of the founding members of its Tactical Operations Unit.
says “Every decision that Captain Baldwin made was what was best for the Valdosta Police Department. His leadership, dedication, knowledge, experience, and commitment to the law enforcement profession will truly be missed,” said a Valdosta Police Department spokesperson.
