CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - Four stores in Crisp County were raided for commercial gambling, according to the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.
The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Commercial Gambling Unit and the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force executed four search warrants for violations of Georiga’s gambling laws.
Three of the stores were in Cordele and one was in Arabi.
Those stores were:
- 416 W 16th Avenue, Cordele
- 1217 E. 16th Avenue, Suite H, Cordele
- 1310 S. 7th Street, Cordele
- 411 E 1st, Arabi
The sheriff’s office said customers were getting cash payouts as winning credits from coin-operated amusement machines. Georgia law says those credits can only be used to buy lottery tickets or store merchandise.
“While searching the (locations), agents collected evidence related to crimes of commercial gambling and seized monetary assets gained from the illegal use of gaming machines,” the sheriff’s office said in a release.
