LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - Due to the coronavirus, several Lee County government offices are closed to the public through Monday, Jan. 4.
But don’t fear, you can still cast your ballot at the elections office.
Those offices have been closed since December 21.
Veronica Johnson, director of elections and registration of Lee County, said their office has remained open to the public for early voting ahead of the January 5th runoff election.
“We are open, even though other county offices are closed. Tomorrow, New Year’s eve, we will be open 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m. So, we are ready and anxious for voters to come. We are averaging a little over 500 voters a day that is taking advantage of being able to early vote,” said Johnson.
After Thursday, the next opportunity that people will have to vote in the run-off election will be on Election Day, Jan. 5.
As of this Wednesday morning, Johnson says over 6,000 ballots have already been cast in Lee County.
