Yearly Thomasville MLK walk, festival to begin Sunday
This year’s event will be virtual
THOMASVILLE, Ga. (WALB) - The yearly Thomasville Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Walk and Festival is set to begin Sunday and go until mid-January this year.
This is the 11th year the walk and festival will take place.
Because of the pandemic, Director Geneva Scott-King said they’re doing a virtual event to accommodate for everyone who wants to participate.
You enter your steps weekly and can win weekly or a grand prize.
They’ll also give a scholarship for high school and college students, which past humanitarian award winners will grade.
“Over the years, all of the people who have won humanitarian in the past, they have jumped on board as part of the committee. So, they have given us an overwhelming amount of input and support, and that is what has made this event grow as the years progressed,” said Scott-King.
The virtual walk will happen Dec. 13-Jan. 10. The festival will also be virtual on Jan. 16.
