MOULTRIE, Ga. (WALB) - Every week we will get the chance to highlight a player who stepped up and helped lead their team to victory.
After another week of high school football, one player stood out from the rest.
This week’s Player of the Week features Colquitt County Packer Antwan Daniels.
The linebacker had one of his best performances of the season last Friday against Walton.
Making the endzone his second home as the sophomore took two interceptions to the house in the second round of the state playoffs.
That was the first time in his short career to have two pick-sixes in a single game.
Daniels recorded 11 tackles, two for a loss, and kept the quarterback uncomfortable with three QB hurries.
The Packers took care of business Friday night and ended the Raiders season with a 35-12 victory.
Daniels told me he’s actually grateful to Walton, you know, for allowing him to have such a standout game.
”All I can say to them [Walton Raiders] was thank you. That’s all I could say was, ‘Thank you,”' said Daniels.
Daniels added, “So our defense did a great job of pressuring him [Walton’s quarterback] and I just read everything that came across the middle and I was in the right spot. I always wanted to make a difference on defense just by being there and just being a part of stopping them so our offense can get the ball. But what really makes us having a great defense is our pursuit to the ball.”
Daniels and the rest of the Pack are hitting the road to take on Norcross in the Quarterfinals, Friday night.
