ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Good deeds can often go unnoticed. But for one Dougherty County School System high school teacher, the small acts of kindness she does for others were nothing small.
“The things I do for the school, for our kids, for our community, it’s not for things like this,” Elizabeth Faircloth, an exceptional student program contact teacher, said. It’s because I truly love this district.”
On Tuesday, the school district and Sonny’s Barbecue gave Elizabeth Faircloth their “Random Acts of BBQ” award.
It’s for people who go above and beyond to make the world a better place.
“All of us agree that we could picture Mrs. Faircloth walking down the hallway and saying ‘how’s your mom,’ and ‘how’s your weekend,’ and ‘congratulations on the win at the basketball game,’ and we could kind of feel her smile and her energy just in the nomination that was written and we felt like she was the perfect candidate for this type of recognition,” Taylor Chatelain, Sonny’s marketing manager, said.
Faircloth does much more than bring joy to her students and fellow teachers.
She also keeps a pantry stocked in her classroom for anyone who needs something to eat and helps buy clothes for students who can’t afford it. Sonny’s Barbecue also fed Faircloth’s entire department today so they could celebrate with her.
