CAMILLA, Ga. (WALB) - Even though we celebrated Halloween Saturday
Toys for Tots leaders in Mitchell county are already working to bring Christmas joy to children.
On Saturday afternoon, Toys for Tots in Mitchell County partnered with the Camilla Fire Department for a “Stuff the Fire Truck” toy drive.
Bernetta Sweet, Toys for Tots Coordinator for Mitchell County, says due to the pandemic, campaigns like Toys for Tots are especially important this year.
“Individuals are going to be requesting assistance who have never requested assistance before. Individuals who were able to provide for their children have now lost their jobs and they may not know where that Christmas is gonna come from and we know that COVID has really affected our community and we’re expecting an even greater need due to that," Sweet said.
Sweet also said they plan to put donation boxes at businesses throughout Mitchell County for those who want to contribute.
