“Stay safe and see you next year,” MCLB wrote on its Facebook page.

MCLB released a statement on the cancellation:

“Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany has canceled its annual Independence Day Celebration. In order to comply with Headquarters Marine Corps and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines regarding social distancing and the benefits of wearing masks within six feet of another person, base officials have decided to err on the side of caution for everyone’s safety.

The base is currently under Health Protection Condition Bravo, which means there are still confirmed cases of COVID-19 present in the area. To prevent any further outbreak, mitigation measures such as the enforcement of face-coverings, handwashing, social-distancing and other site-specific heath prevention measures must be maintained.”

MCLB said the annual affair brings out between 8,000-10,000 people to the event.
