ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A Dougherty County Jail inmate escaped but was caught within an hour, according to jail officials.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, Jerry Davis was transferred into the custody of Aspire Behavior Mental Health Facility for treatment.

The jail said Davis escaped soon after.

The Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office responded and Davis was caught within an hour, according to the jail.

Officials said Davis was taken back to the jail.
