Hundreds fill auditorium for play honoring Freedom Singer Rutha Harris

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Hundreds filled the Rutha Mae Harris Performing Arts Auditorium at Monroe High School Friday night.

A play honoring Harris, one of the original Freedom Singers, was performed about her life growing up in Albany to performing at the White House.

The play was written by Curtis Williams and performed by her niece, Angela Gibson.

Mayor Dorothy Hubbard also presented Harris with a proclamation, recognizing her talents and contributions.
