Worth Co. High School gets new head football coach

SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - The Worth County School District (WCSD) and superintendent have named a new head football coach.

Phil Ironside will now lead the Worth County Rams in the next football season, according to Superintendent Bill Settle.

Settle said in a press release that Ironside will take the reins Jan. 6.

“As WCSD superintendent, I am ecstatic for our kids, our school district, our community and our football program to have a coach with such a pattern of success in developing programs into highly competitive programs. Most importantly, I am even more impressed with his many references that would rather talk about his character and his ability to connect with students than what he has accomplished on the football field,” said Settle.

“Coach Ironside comes to Worth County with an overall record of 186-87. During his tenure at Hillgrove High School in Cobb County, he amassed a 109-42 record over 14 seasons with 4 region championships, seven state playoff appearances (four of which were quarterfinal appearances), and three Coach of the Year awards,"

Worth County Schools will hold an official press conference Wednesday, January 8, at 10 a.m. in the gym that will be open to the public.
