Jack Nicklaus visits South GA

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - South Georgia welcomed a special guest that many believe is one of the greatest golfers of all time.

Jack Nicklaus stopped in Valdosta for a two-part fundraising event for Georgia Christian School.

The golf legend attended a gold tournament at Kinderlou Forest as well as a benefit dinner at Valdosta State University.

John Sykes, with the Georgia Christian School, said he was proud to see that they are to continue to welcome major guests for this event every year.

“He is the undisputed best player ever. There’s Tiger Woods, Gary Palmer, nobody else that compares or even wants to be compared to Jack Nicklaus when it comes to his stature on the golf course," said Sykes.

During the event, Nicklaus spoke about his charitable work and his passion for helping the youth.

Sykes said that at these events, in the past, they’ve hosted former governor Mike Huckabee, former first lady Laura Bush and even President George W. Bush.

Skyles said every year with this event, they look to reintroduce themselves to the community.
