MARION CO., Ga. (WALB) - The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the husband and father of a missing Florida mom and four children is being charged with second degree murder.
The sheriff's office said Casei Jones was found dead near Brantley County, Georgia Monday morning. Detectives say they believe they've found the remains of her four missing children, but they have not been positively identified yet.
Deputies say Casei Jones, 10-year-old Cameron Bowers, 5-year-old Preston Bowers, 2-year-old Mercalli Jones and 1-year-old Aiyana Jones were last seen in the Ocala, Florida area. Jones' family reported her missing Saturday night. Family and friends of Jones told deputies they haven't seen or heard from her during those six weeks and are worried about her safety.
Deputies found Jones’ husband, Michael Jones Jr., in Georgia after a car accident. He was questioned in connection to her death. A warrant was issued for his arrest for second degree homicide Monday morning. Detectives said Jones later led them to the remains of four children.
The sheriff's office said based on the evidence it got through investigation and interviews, it believes Jones murdered the victims in Marion County at their Summerfield home. Detectives believe he stored the bodies at this home and in his van for several weeks before taking them to Brantley County, Georgia.
Deputies said Jones may have been driving a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica with Florida license plate 91SEJ.
