Albany police investigate shooting on N. Harding Street

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Saturday morning on the 700 block of North Harding Street around 7:40 a.m.

Police say while the 40-year-old victim was stopped at an intersection on North Harding Street, two black men with handguns and wearing masks, entered his vehicle and demanded him to drive to an ATM.

While driving, the victim stopped at the intersection of Rosedale and ran from the car, according to police.

The suspects then started shooting and the victim was hit in the shoulder, according to police.

A resident living in that area say she heard gunshots and saw the crime take place.

“We hear gunshots all hours of the night and all hours of the day. A detective knocked on my door probably around 10 to 10:15 a.m. and an older white male had gotten jumped when two black males jumped in his car to rob him. And he went to run and they shot him,” Neica Selman said.

“Please be careful lock all your doors, even when you are riding down the road lock your door. Because people are jumping in cars in everything it’s dangerous,” Selman also told us.

No suspects are in custody at this time.
