ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Monroe High School students who walk home were dismissed early as a precaution, according to the Dougherty County School System.
The school system said the students were dismissed as a precaution after the recent shootings that happened in the area.
Students were dismissed around 3:30 p.m.
DCSS said they are increasing safety operations at all schools for the rest of the week.
“While no events have happened at any of our schools, the district is committed to a proactive approach for keeping our students and employees safe,” the district posted to Facebook. “We are collaborating with area law enforcement and monitoring events in real-time.”
