ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - For the past 35 years, kids in the community have gotten the opportunity to learn from one of South Georgia’s best here at the Lea Henry camp of champs.
Hoping to one day, be the star of their own city.
35 years, and still going strong.
The Lea Henry camp of champs continues to make an impact in the Albany community.
With a record 150 campers attending this years event, Lea Henry can't believe the continued support she and the camp have received throughout the years.
“When I got started the camp, it was to give back," said Henry. And so far, every summer, we’ve walked away knowing that we’ve made a difference for young people and exposed them to the game. Some of them, it’s their first time and some of them, they’re good players, they’re high school players and they’re just working to get better.”
Maybe someday soon a kid in your community will help lead the way for your local team.
And start a tradition of their own.
