‘Teen Summer Challenge’ keeps kids active while school is out

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - With summertime in full swing, you may notice your teens becoming a little too comfortable on the couch.

Trainers at Albany’s Planet Fitness are trying to encourage teens to spend at least 60 minutes every day on their feet.

The Teen Summer Challenge Program shows kids that they have to start working out now, or their unhealthy habits may follow them into adulthood.

“Definitely for energy, strength, I’ve noticed one particular kid, his name is James. He wants to join the military, so he’s just working on his energy, his stamina. He’s just trying to keep up and make sure he’s physically fit for that,” said Planet Fitness Physical Trainer, Melissa Gilyard.

The program is free and open to teens ages 15-18.

If you want to join, your parent will need to sign you up at the Planet Fitness by the Albany Mall.

The program ends September 1.
