Valdosta woman accused of attacking man with brick

VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A woman is facing charges after police said she attacked a man with a brick over the weekend.

The Valdosta Police Department said it’s the second case of forced entry in less than two days.

Police said the victim was in his house on Donald Avenue just off of Old Statenville Road.

Officers arrested Andrita James, 33.

Detectives believe she went inside the victim’s home and attacked him with a brick. When he tried to protect himself, officers said a juvenile went inside the home and started punching him.

“Before you open your door, make sure you keep your door locked and secured. Don’t open it until you know who is on the other side. Even if you’re expecting someone to come visit, make sure that that’s the person that’s on the other side of the door," said Valdosta Police Department Spokesperson Lt. Scottie Johns.

Police haven’t released whether the two suspects and the victim know each other.

James was charged with burglary and aggravated assault.

The juvenile was charged with battery.

Officers said the victim had some injuries but didn’t want treatment and is expected to be OK.
