Savage was charged with murder, possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and aggravated assault in connection to the death of Kenneth Armstrong, 35.

“As a mother I feel relieved, like I said. That was one of the concerns as a community was that he was still on the run. Knowing that he is captured I am very relieved," said Tiffany Cooks, a neighbor.

Savage was arrested Tuesday morning in Dooly County, according to the sheriff’s office.

People in the community said they are relieved that the suspect was captured and off the streets.

“Running down leads. You start at point A where he was last seen, you go to point B where someone saw him there, then point C. You look at all the things he has access to to see if he is using or operating any of those,” said Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock

Along with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Department of Community Supervision, U.S. Marshal Middle Georgia Fugitive Task Force and the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.

“I applaud every team member for their dedication, compassion and collaboration to bring justice to our community,” Sheriff Bill Hancock said.
