SYLVESTER, Ga. (WALB) - Hurricane Michael cancelled it last year, but organizers said they are excited for the Sylvester Peanut Festival to return in the fall.
Last year’s event was cancelled due to Hurricane Michael’s damage to the main hub of the event in T. C. Jeffords Park.
A member of the Peanut Festival committee addressed the Sylvester council Monday, informing them the event is scheduled for October 17 to 19th.
We are told they were able to hold on to the same vendors as last year, as well as the same concept for the event.
“We are using the same theme we had last year, since we were not able to really market that theme and move forward with it. We’re going to use the same theme as we did last year to kind of honor some people from last year who did not get their just, due to the way everything was cancelled," said Wendy Kennedy, the Peanut Festival Chair.
Kennedy said they are still having conversations about placement of attractions.
She also said that the carnival will also return.
