FITZGERALD, Ga. (WALB) - A mural in Fitzgerald is getting some attention.
City leaders unveiled a mural honoring civil rights icon Morris Abram.
The Fitzgerald native was a lawyer and civil rights activist.
City leaders said the mural will not only keep Abram’s memory alive but continue to unify the community.
"We try here in Fitzgerald to make sure that we never forget why we were founded and that’s to bring people together and I think that mural is one step in doing that,” Jim Puckett, Fitzgerald mayor, said
The mural was complete in late April.
It can be found at 120 South Lee St. in the Carnegie Center Courtyard
Puckett said other murals are expected to go up soon.
