MACON, Ga. (WALB) - The thomasville bulldogs and Union County squares off in the state finals Firday night.
Both hoping for a chance to claim the state.
Even at one after the first half, thomasville stepped up the offense.
The Bulldogs were all over Union County in the second half, but they still ended up in PK’s.
After two great saves by Marc Davis, the Bulldogs were able to clinch the state title.
“This one to go all the way down to penalty kicks, and Marc Davis came up with just two phenomenal saves there at the end," said head coach Keith Gwaltney. "Our guys just battled the whole time. We we weren’t finding the back of the net. We felt like we were controlling most of the attacks, but in the end, our boys won it and they really wanted it bad. All the hard work paid off.”
“It feels amazing," said Davis. "Like all the pressure we’ve had this whole game, like just feel relived. Just feels great to be a winner.”
Now it’s up to Terrell Academy to see if South Georgia can bring home two state title this weekend.
