TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - For the first time since 2002, the ABAC Softball team is headed to the NJCAA national championship tournament.

After winning the G-C-A-A region 17 title, the Fillies are headed to St. George Utah.

In just a year, the Fillies were able to change their 11-17 record to a 24-4 conference record.

Now, ABAC is getting ready to embark on the journey, of a lifetime.

“Whenever we get to Utah, we need to focus and play our game," said conference player of the year Taylor Layfield. "If we play our game like we did at the conference tournament, we should have no problem.”

“I’m super excited, I couldn’t be prouder of these group of girls," said first team all conference Samantha Davis. "From last year to this year, it’s a big change. We started off rough but we stepped up in the big moment.”

The Fillies will head to St. George Utah on Sunday, but will begin play on Wednesday.
