Albany event set to help ‘stop the violence’
The event will be at the Hilton Garden Inn on Saturday, May 17 at 4:30 p.m. in an effort to stop the violence in Albany.

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One local Albany man wants the violence to stop in his hometown so he decided to host an event called “A Fight to Better Our Community.”

The event is for young men in the community.

They’re invited to come out and hear from speakers, such as Albany activist King Randall and other mentors about problems they may be facing.

Derick Price is hosting the event and says many crimes that are happening in Albany are coming from young people, so he is encouraging parents to bring their sons out to learn about how they can help stop the violence in their community.

“We got to get to the source which is the heart. A lot of people have hatred in their hearts like the young generation. We just going to be speaking on that as well," says Price.

The event will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Albany and will start at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
