DAWSON, Ga. (WALB) - One Southwest Georgia city is cleaning up parts of the community to boost recreational activity.
Dawson city leaders say a pond off Mimosa Drive hasn't been cleaned up in some time now.
Over the last few weekends, city crews have been working to clean it up.
“We had a couple of recreational opportunities the only problem was they’ve been closed up and they’ve grown up and they weren’t really conducive for people to make use of,” said James Woods, the Interim City Manager.
The pond is not open completely, but residents can enjoy one side of it.
Woods says they hope to have the entire pond open by the end of fall.
