The construction on the first phase should begin in July and will take about 12 months to complete.

It will house 64 units.

Now the developer is looking to start phase two, as part of the East Albany revitalization plan.

“Most of the demolition is actually done on parcels that will make up phases one and two. I think you’ll notice we’re down to three buildings left, maybe four. A lot of progress has been made and we actually plan to close the partnership and begin construction,” said Mitchell Davenport with the Clement & Co, LLC developers.

City Commissioners agreed to sign a letter of support the developer will use to apply for low-income housing tax credits.

The developer will invest $8 million of their own into the project.
