Albany Civic Center reveals new basketball court
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Albany city leaders came together at the James H. Gray Civic Center for a ribbon-cutting ceremony with a surprise reveal.
That reveal was a refurbished basketball court to cater to sports teams that come to compete in Albany.
This is the first time is 20 years that the court has seen any revamping.
It cost roughly $15,000, which covered the re-working of the wood and the re-paint.
Spectra General Manager Josh Small, said the goal is to keep bringing business to Albany.
“Anything that we can bring downtown that’s going to sell tickets that’s going to provide entertainment for the community, we’re wanting to be a part of and bring to the venue,” explained Small.
All this is happening just in time for a big game Friday night when the Atlanta Dream of the WNBA comes to town.
