Valdosta Police Chief gets to re-introduce herself

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The new Valdosta Chief of Police is getting out into the community, to re-introduce herself after more than 20 years as an officer.

You may remember Chief Leslie Manahan was appointed Valdosta’s first female Chief of Police back in early March, after serving as interim chief for months.

Just this morning, Manahan participated in a coffee with a Chief event at Chick Fil A for National Police Week.

We spoke to the chief about the response that’s she’s received from the community.

“You know we’ve gotten a great turnout from the citizens like we said, and they brought some good ideas for us. You know, they want to know what the department’s future is, so being able to sit and talk to people to tell them what we’re looking for, for our department has been great," said Manahan.

Manahan said that she wanted members of the community to be able to see and interact with the officers outside of your typical environment.

She said she wants to see more events like this in the future.
