VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A Valdosta man is in the hospital fighting for his life after being stabbed by one of his family members on Mother’s Day while the search for the man responsible continues.
We visited the 500 block of Hudson Street where it happened and spoke to neighbors, who said they might consider moving.
The Valdosta Police Department said that the suspect is still out there and could possibly be armed dangerous.
One resident, who just wants the violence to stop, said its part of a bigger problem.
Police are looking for Morris Thompson, 18, who they suspect was the man responsible for the assault.
Investigators said Thompson and the victim were involved in an altercation that led to the victim bleeding out on the street.
Grady Jackson, a man who lives in the neighborhood, said that this might’ve been a case of things just getting out of hand, but he’s still concerned for his family, especially his grandkids.
“I would like them to be able to go outside and play without having to worry about something happening to them — a stray bullet or something like that," said Jackson.
Jackson said the violence has just gotten bad in recent years.
Police are asking that if you see Thompson, that you do not approach him but that you call 911.
