TERRELL CO., GA (WALB) - On Friday, Terrell County leaders broke ground on a new terminal for the Dawson Municipal Airport.
According to the Terrell County Airport Authority, the $500,000 project has been a long-term goal.
The new terminal will replace the old one which was designed back in the 1960s.
Both Terrell County and the Georgia Department of Transportation are chipping in financially for the project.
“The airport has always been a gateway to the community. It’s a place for businesses to meet and fly in. It’s a good access to the major businesses to come in here, into the area. So, we’ve always wanted to try to provide a facility that was worthy of the county,” said Mal Halbrook, the Terrell County Airport Authority chairman.
Construction will start within the next few days and the new terminal is expected to be finished in three months.
