MACON, GA (WALB) - Deerfield-Windsor girls soccer team advances to the finals!
After fighting through a 100-minute game to defeat Holy Spirit 2-1, with just seconds left on the clock.
In the 99th minute Emilee Foy sinks the ball into the back of the net, securing their ticket to the finals.
“I was seeing, and I was like I had the opportunity and I had to go and I had Rachel screaming at me to shoot it. So, I finally shot it and it finally went in. So, it was a good feeling to have hear on the field with me and everyone else on the field as well," said Foy.
Also helping to keep this game alive, their goalkeeper, Emily Sosby who blocked shot, after shot, after shot.
Girls Head Coach Aly Joslin said, “She’s been a mentor year for us. She’s kept us in so many games. I’m happy for her because she’s been so good for us this year, and a lot of the time the goal keepers don’t get the credit they deserve, but she was excellent."
They play in the championship game at Mercer University, Saturday at 4p.m..
