ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Gucci Mane, Lil Baby and City Girls will take the stage at the Albany Civic Center June 14.
“I am just excited, just excited. This is the biggest, biggest treat for the summer,” said Gilbert Udoto, promoter of Summer Bash.
Udoto is the man behind getting Gucci Mane, Lil Baby and the City Girls to Albany. He said it was very hard to get big acts to Albany, but he is thrilled they agreed to come.
“It was really hard because they were like, ‘Where is Albany?’ Gucci was here in 09 and he is coming back now. He is coming back, he is bigger than he was,” said Udoto.
Udoto said he loves Albany and bringing this concert to downtown is going to bring a lot of new faces to the downtown area.
“We want downtown to grow and want to keep the population over here. The hotels are going to be full and people are going to think this is the Good Life City,” said Udoto.
J.D. Lovett, a student at Albany State University said that once Udoto broke the news that Gucci Mane was coming to Albany, the entire campus was excited.
“It is Gucci Mane. What more do you want? It is Gucci Mane, it is going to be crazy. People love the City Girls, they hot. People love Lil Baby, so the Civic Center is going to be packed out,” said Lovett.
Lovett also said the concert is going to draw a young crowd to downtown and that has to be a great feeling for the city.
