ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The trial for the October 2017 death of Travion Jones at the Sandtrap 5.0 nightclub starts Monday in Dougherty County Superior Court, District Attorney Greg Edwards said.
Those going to trial in this term of court are James Byrd, Dominique Davis, Stacy Frazier, Derrick Jenkins, and Daquan Moore.
Police believe the shooting was the result of a fight that began inside the club.
Dominique Davis, 29, surrendered to police and was charged with murder in October 2017.
Eight other people were also indicted in this case.
Those that were indicted are:
• Tremain McKnight
• Stacy Frazier
• DaQuan Moore
• Ricardo Rhymes
• Darius Wheeler
• James Byrd
• Derrick Lamar Jenkins
• Samuel Jenkins, Jr.
The other eight indicted were charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, violation of street gang terrorism and prevention, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jones’ family also sued the city, and the police department for wrongful death.
Judge Willie Lockette is presiding, and is expected to call the trial at 9:30 a.m., with jury selection soon to follow.
