ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany and Dougherty County law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty will be honored in a special ceremony Wednesday.

Eleven fallen officers within the Albany and Dougherty County police departments, the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, the airport police and the Marine Corps will be honored during the ceremony.

The event will be at Albany Technical College and will include speakers and a wreath presentation to families of the fallen officers.

Captain Jason Hager with DCP said after his department lost Lieutenant Thomas Cliff Rouse in 2010, this event is near and dear to him.

“It’s really important that we show respect and the love that we have for those officers, especially on that day,” said Hager.

Wednesday will be National Peace Officers Memorial Day.

The event in Albany will start at 9 a.m. at the Kirkland Conference Center at Albany Technical College.
