Tift man arrested after brief standoff

TIFTON, GA (WALB) - Tift County Sheriff’s deputies went to a house on 6 1/2 Street Wednesday to execute a felony theft warrant on 49-year-old Stacy Lamar Rutland of Tifton.

As Deputies approached the home they saw Rutland inside, alone. He refused to come out and then barricaded himself inside.

Deputies called the Tri-County Special Response Team, and they took over.

A short time later, Rutland was taken into custody, with no injuries.

Rutland was taken to the Tift Regional Medical Center to be medically cleared, and was then transported and booked into the Tift County Jail.

Rutland is being charged with a felony count of aggravated assault/family violence, a felony count of robbery by intimidation, a felony count of false imprisonment, and a misdemeanor count of battery/family violence, first offense.
