Fox tests positive for rabies after attack in Wilcox County

WILCOX CO., GA (WALB) - A fox that attacked two people and a family pet has tested positive for rabies, according to the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office said that the victims were attacked on Tuesday on American Legion Road.

The sheriff said both people have already started treatment with their doctors.

Officials said the fox was shot and killed by a neighbor before Wild Life Management was able to set a trap to catch it for testing.

The Fox was then turned over to the Wilcox County Health Department, where it tested positive for rabies, according to a Facebook post by the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office asks that resident be aware of their surroundings and any unusual behavior from animals in their vicinity.
