ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Mall officials have heard rumors and speculations that the mall might be closing and they said those rumors aren’t true.
Albany Mall Manager Charles Cook said the only thing he hopes to shut down are the rumors coming from the community.
There has been speculation that if another department store were to close at the mall, then the mall would have to close its doors.
However, Cook said these rumors are not true and if anything, the mall has new plans in the works.
Cook said he couldn’t share much information, but he did give WALB a statement.
“Come on out to the mall and shop. School is about to be out for summer and we are getting ready to kick off family fun nights. I encourage the entire community to shop at the businesses that are inside the mall,' said Cook.
Cook also said there have been national rumors that all JC Penny stores might be closing, but said the Albany JC Penny is doing very well and he doesn’t see that happening.
Cook said that Jimmy Jazz Clothing and Shoe Store will expand into the former Best Buy Mobile space.
