CARROLL CO., GA (WALB) - The United States Marshals Service and Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force are looking for an inmate who escaped from a work detail in Carroll County and could be in South Georgia.
Tommy Shane Morton Jr., 47, walked off from his detail earlier this week and hasn’t been found yet, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).
The Georgia Department of Correction’s website says Morton was arrested in 2011 in Coffee County for manufacturing marijuana and two counts of theft by taking.
CCSO said he has ties to Coffee County and could be in the area.
Morton is about 5′10″, weighs about 150 pounds, has blue eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with any information on his whereabouts or believes they may have seen him is urged to call the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force at 1-877-WANTED-2.
The U.S. Marshals service is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who can provide information leading to the successful capture of Morton.
