VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - After their first undefeated season and their first national title since 2012, the Blazers are starting to see the rewards from that magical season.
The Blazers were unstoppable in the 2018 season.
Topping most of the charts in the nation in almost every aspect.
Although the Blazers won the title back in December, some of the players still feel like this is all a dream.
“I’ve been waiting for a long time and it seems like every time somebody asked about the National Championships," said VSU defensive back Stephen Denmark, "it seemed like, I mean, it still feels like a dream, but today, it felt like we actually worked for something.”
“I’m proud of our guys, I’m proud of our program, I’m proud of VSU," said former VSU football coach Kerwin Bell. "Somebody told me the other day, what did you like most about being at there. It was just the people, and being around that program. It was special to be here for three years and do the things we were able to do.”
The Blazers will open their 2019 season, on the road against the ASU Rams September 7th.
