ALBANY, GA (WALB) -A Cairo organization that lost it’s headquarters to a tornado in March got some help Friday.

Pelham High School Beta Club put together goods to feed close to 200 needy families.

They packed free meal kits with boxes of rice blends for Kids Against Hunger.

Sara Wingate, Pelham High School assistant principal, said she is grateful they could help feed folks after the major storm.

“I’m very proud of them," Wingate said. "They seek other ways in the community to help volunteer their time. And it’s just nice for them to be able to give back to their community.”

The principal said Second Harvest in Thomasville will pick up the boxes from the school Monday, where they will later distribute them during the week.
