Monroe High students look to the future

Monroe Academic Signing

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Many students at Monroe High School made a public announcement in front of the entire student body Friday —where they will be taking their academics after they graduate.

Many students are going off to college and many are planning to join the military.

Friday was the first ever signing event for Monroe High and Principal Vinson Davis said he hopes this event will inspire younger classmates.

Kimbrely Chambers, a teacher and the senior adviser, said she excited for all the students and their bright futures.

“As the senior adviser, it’s important for me to make sure students have options and with those options being scholarships, dual enrollment anything that help take them to the next level and not graduate to the streets,” Chambers said.

Davis said he looks forward to continuing this event for years to come.

MONROE DECISION DAY: 54 graduates from Monroe announced their post-secondary plans Friday.
