THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A 12-year-old’s hospital visit led to ER staff calling the police.
Thomas County deputies said molestation caused the child’s injuries.
They will not reveal what those injuries were.
The child was taken to Treehouse Advocacy Center for a forensic interview and exam.
Deputies said a family acquaintance, James Sutton, is responsible.
He now faces child molestation and aggravated child molestation charges.
Lieutenant Tim Watkins said in most cases, the victim knows their offender.
“Talk to your children, make sure they’re comfortable talking to you about anyone that’s doing anything to them. Let them know it’s okay to tell if anything like that happens to them, and be a good parent, know who your kids are with," said Watkins.
Lt. Watkins said in rare cases the offender will be a stranger.
He encourages you to talk with your children to make sure something like this doesn’t happen to them.
