Counterfeit money circulating in Thomasville

Thomas Co. Forgery Cases

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Thomasville Police warn of counterfeit money circulating in the area.

Within the past month and a half, the department seized around $700.

They said the spike in forgery cases isn't unusual, and it usually comes in phases.

Their investigation started at Flash Foods on Highway 319 South in Thomasville.

Police said an employee recognized a woman previously suspected of using fake money at the store.

They credit the clerk’s quick thinking to call 911 for helping to stop counterfeit money from circulating to other businesses.

“It’s very important for them to turn them over to law enforcement, just for the sole reason to get them out of circulation," said Knifer.
