Radium Springs Middle School getting new principal

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County School System will soon see leadership changes at one of its middle schools, which will also impact an elementary school.

Superintendent Kenneth Dyer said Radium Springs Middle School Principal Ronald Gadson will step down after this school year.

Dyer said after this was announced, the school district began to search for a replacement. That’s when they found Steven Dudley, current principal at West Town Elementary School.

Dyer said Dudley is excited for his new role.

“He certainly hates to leave West Town, he has certainly created a solid foundation there. I think it is destine to continue to improve and I think he will be a good replacement for Mr. Gadson as he looks at other options within the school system," said Dyer.

Dyer said Dudley has won many awards in the past for literacy rates.

“He has had great success as principal at West Town Elementary school. He was recently awarded the Sandra Deal literacy award for having the highest literacy gains over a three-year period in the Dougherty County School System,” explained Dyer.

Dyer said this new change will begin at the start of the next school year.

WALB is waiting to hear who will lead West Town Elementary.
