AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Southwestern baseball team has had a quick turn around this season.
And have found themselves in a position to extend their season.
The Canes only have one conference series remaining.
As the Canes get ready to finish the regular season, they could be playing for a spot in the Peach Belt Conference playoffs.
After just claiming 5 conference wins last season, first year head coach Josh McDonald believes the Canes are capable of so much more.
“Our goal is to actually bring the first Peach Belt championship to this program," said McDonald. "Like I tell our guys all the time, once we get to the post season, it’s like a new season and everyone’s on an even playing field and who knows what can happen from there.”
“Last year, it was definitely down slope the whole time," said Senior second baseman Jason Baita. "They really wanted to pick up energy and things like that. Just really improve overall as a team and I think we have done that. I think in the future it’s going to get better and better each year.”
The Canes will face off against UNC Pembroke Saturday starting at 1 P.M.
