Blazers set to make history

Senior class could set the record for most wins in four years at Baconton

Baconton on track to make history

BACONTON, GA (WALB) - The Baconton Blazers have been on a roll these past couple of years.

Now with the chance to make history, the Blazers, aren’t looking to slow down.

As Baconton prepares for their last series of the regular season, history is just one game away.

The four Blazers seniors could be the only class to ever have four consecutive 20 win seasons.

And with the chance to clinch their third region title, makes this moment even better.

“That tells you that I’ve had some good leadership for 4 years," said Baconton head baseball coach Bubber Birdsong. "These guys have won a lot of ball games and these guys got off to a really good start. We’ve hit a little here in the last, but we’ve played some good teams. We’re trying to get it back and trying to get it back for the playoffs.”

“Again, that’d be making history," said senior shortstop Spencer Culp. "That’d be the biggest thing that ever happened to this school. To do that and have an opportunity at that, and hopefully we can go deep into it.”

The Blazers will face off against the Mitchell County Eagles Thursday at 4 P.M.
