TIFTON, GA (WALB) - A new South Georgia organization aimed at helping people struggling with drug addictions held its grand opening Thursday.
The Oasis Recovery Community Organization in Tifton is a bridge for people getting back into the world or the workforce after they’ve gotten out of rehab, but it’s not a rehab center.
ORC helps recovering addicts get employment, obtain a GED, and create resumes. Organizers also help with clothes, hold life skills classes, and counseling by appointment. Oasis leaders tell us people struggling can even stop by to watch TV if they need a place to relax.
“We’re losing too many people through addiction and it’s an ongoing problem that affects everyone,” said Herby Benson, Director of Board of Directors.
Organizers say people are free to come in and volunteer. People who want to use the program can call 229-396-5900. Services are free and you don’t need an appointment to stop by.
