ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A group of students and parents from Monroe Comprehensive High School want the school board to know they don’t want to see their basketball coached replaced.
The worried group filled the seats at Wednesday’s Board of Education meeting.
They said they’re concerned Coach Keith Hayes may be replaced.
This comes after the school had to forfeit its 2018-2019 boys basketball games.
A student was found to play ineligible because he failed to meet GHSA academic eligibility requirements.
But the crowd said they’re sticking by their coach.
“I know his character. I know he loves the boys, his school. He’s a graduate of Monroe, 1994. And I know first hand the love he has for these boys and his dedication to the team,” said a concerned resident, Michelle Snead.
There were no talks of replacing Hayes at Wednesday’s meeting.
